Torque Rod Frame Braces
Torque Rods, an original design since 1991, came from the world of drag VMAXs, but have been found to produce amazing results in street MAXs as well, in handling as well as straight-line stability and rock-solid launches. Our design is bolted on, however it is bolted to a welded tab in the rear. This tab is designed for welding specifically to tubing, is easily mounted by a good welder, and easily removed, if desired, at later date. We had the option to design a complete bolton system, and chose not to, for the following reasons. For greatest strength, the bar needed to be placed at the point where the mainframe meets the tailsection, impossible for clamped-on bars. Secondly, we were looking for the correct mounting angle for best results; correct triangulation produces best results, too much or too little angle limits the benefits. Most importantly, a clampon design does not only not have the initial strength of the weldon tab design, stresses can work the clamp loose, and do more serious cosmetic damage to the frame than the weldon tab or its removal ever could(of course why anyone would want to return to original handling and frame flex at anytime is beyond me!). Lastly, our design does not interfere with any seats, stock or aftermarket, actually prevents skin(leg)contact with rear cylinder heads, AND they are the BEST LOOKING on the market! So, if you are looking for optimum handling, stability, and holeshots from your MAX, and a great 'factory' look, the choices are clear! Choose Torque Rods!A few weeks ago I purchased a set of frame braces from you for my 02 V-Max. Monday I had the brackets welded on and installed the braces.... Last night when I took the bike out, for the first time since installing the braces, I could not believe the difference in the handling of the bike. It seemed like someone tied the front and rear wheel together. The bike is so much tighter, or solid feeling. I just want to thank you for the frame braces, and all that you do to make our bikes so much better.
